How do I provide my tax information and documents?

We offer in-person appointments at our office or the convenience of using our secure tax portal. If you use the portal, you’ll be guided through an interview that asks the questions we need to prepare your return and allows you to securely upload your tax documents.

Do you prepare tax returns for small businesses and rental properties?

Yes. In fact, we specialize in tax preparation for small business owners and rental property owners.

Do you prepare both federal and state tax returns?

Yes. Your quoted tax preparation fee includes both your federal and California state income tax returns. We also prepare returns for other states, with the exception of New York and Massachusetts.

What happens if I receive another tax document after my return has already been filed?

If you receive an additional tax document after your return has been e-filed, your tax return can be amended to include the new information. Send us the additional document and we can prepare an amended return for you.

What types and sizes of businesses do you provide payroll services for?

We provide payroll services for businesses in all industries with up to 50 employees.

How often can payroll be processed?

Payroll can be processed weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly, depending on the needs of your business.

When do payroll hours need to be submitted?

Payroll hours should be submitted at least three days before the check date. For direct deposit payroll, hours should be submitted at least four business days before the employees' deposit date.

What happens if I submit payroll hours late?

Occasional glitches happen! We will do our best to work around a late submission and make sure your employees are paid on time. If there isn't enough processing time available for direct deposit, you may need to pay employees by check for that payroll period.

What information do you need for a new employee?

We will need the employee's completed Form W-4 and pay rate before processing their first paycheck. New employee paperwork can be submitted along with payroll hours if necessary, but we recommend sending it as soon as it is completed so the employee is already set up and ready for their first payroll.

Do you handle payroll tax deposits and quarterly payroll tax returns?

Yes. Our monthly payroll service includes scheduling required federal and state payroll tax deposits, as well as preparation of federal and state quarterly payroll tax returns.

Do you prepare W-2s and 1099s at year-end?

Yes. Year-end W-2 and 1099 preparation is available and is billed separately from the monthly payroll service. Pricing is based on the number of employees and independent contractors.

What should I do when an employee is terminated?

Contact us as soon as possible when an employee needs a final paycheck. We make every effort to process off-schedule final payroll as quickly as possible. A pay stub can generally be provided within 24 hours so that you can issue the employee's final check. Final-pay requirements vary depending on the circumstances, so please contact us promptly when an employee is leaving.

Do you handle garnishments and other payroll deductions?

Yes. If you receive a garnishment order, please send us all pages of the notice as soon as possible so we can set up the required deduction in payroll. Each pay period, we will calculate the appropriate amount to withhold and provide you with the information needed to remit the payment to the appropriate agency.

What types of business entities do you form?

We form California LLCs, S corporations, and C corporations. Once you complete our formation questionnaire, we handle the formation process for you from start to finish.

Do I need to come into the office to form my business?

Are state filing fees included in the formation price?

Do you form businesses outside of California?
